As we say goodbye to 2017, I'd like to share with you a song that I wrote early this year entitled "New Year's". It's about new beginnings and moving on from the past, and comes in the form of a love song. It's also one of my favorite songs that I've written. It's in the process of being recorded in the studio, and will be released on my next album. For now, you can see it performed live HERE.
Happy New Year. See you in 2018.
I'd like to announce the new single from my album "We Were Only Kids". "Jerry Lee" is a lovingly irreverent and playful tribute to the life and work of Jerry Lee Lewis. I wrote it to be in his style and from his perspective, and I imagined it to take place some time after his period of peak success. The beautiful cover painting is by my dear friend, Bruce Stewart. To hear this song, you can click here.
If you would like to own a copy of this song, you can purchase a download here.
I hope you enjoy "Jerry Lee".
October 27, 2017 -
It's Halloween again, so I thought I'd make a festive offering. "Satan's Love Song" is quite unlike my other work, and is my only truly gothic piece, (and hopefully my creepiest love song). If you'd like to see a recent live performance as well as a full explanation of its meaning and inspiration, I invite you to click the link here.
September 22, 2017 -
As we say goodbye to summer, I'd like to hold onto it just a moment longer, by sharing my recent performance of Bruce Springsteen's "Racing in the Street", joined with "Promised Land", the former, morphing into the latter. The songs were both originally from his 1978 album, "Darkness on the Edge of Town", and it seemed appropriate, thematically, to present them as a single piece in this performance. I hope you enjoy. Happy Fall.
You can watch it here.
August 26, 2017 - I'd like to share a song from my April concert. I performed "If I Can Dream" because its sentiment felt especially relevant, as the divisions in our world seem to grow. It was written by W. Earl Brown for Elvis Presley to sing on his 1968 TV special. It was in response to the recent assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and is a plea for peace and tolerance. It also became one of the greatest and most definitive performances of Elvis Presley's career. I hope you enjoy my humble attempt at this classic song. Peace.
You can view it here.
June 3, 2017 - For those who were unable to attend the concert on April 13th, and for those who might wish to see some of it again, there is now a video presentation of the entire show. Scott Bennett captured the event on film, and has posted it on Youtube. He's even provided chapter markers in the description section. So, if you click on the times next to the song titles, you can skip to whatever song you wish to hear. I hope you enjoy this show a fraction as much as I enjoyed playing it for you. You can see it here.
April 12, 2017 - With the concert one day away, I thought it would be a good time to introduce the 2nd Single from the album. You may have heard it recently on CBC Radio. It is the title track from the album "We Were Only Kids". It was written to celebrate my parents' 50th Anniversary, and is, I feel, the strongest song that I've ever written.
You can purchase a download of the song here, and you can hear it on Youtube, here.
In the past couple weeks, you may have also heard my songs on Georgie Wilson's CFUV radio show "Tidal Zone". Victoria residents can watch for a piece about me in tomorrow's (Thursday's) Times Colonist newspaper. Another article ran today in Saanich News.
I look forward to seeing you at the show. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
April 6, 2017 - With one week until my concert on April 13th, at the David Foster Foundation Theatre, there are a few things I'd like to share.
Firstly, there are still tickets available for the show and they can be purchased at Tom Lee Music, Lyle's Place or online here. For those who won't know if they're attending until the evening arrives, all unsold tickets will be available for purchase at the door, and I hope you'll join us.
Secondly, all the songs from the new album can now be heard in their entirety in the Music section of my website here. You can purchase downloads of them if you wish, or you can stream them from the site as often as you like.
Lastly, I'd like to share with you the press release, written by Scott Bennett for this album and concert. It can be seen here.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'll see you soon.
March 10, 2017 - To mark the release of my new album "We Were Only Kids", I will be performing a concert at the David Foster Foundation Theatre in Victoria, B.C., on April 13th, 2017, at 7:30 PM. I would be honored if you would join us for this evening. You can learn more, and buy tickets here.
December 16, 2016 - I am pleased to announce that the new album is now available on iTunes, for those who use this service for downloading music. Here's the link to the full album as well as the individual songs:
"We Were Only Kids" on iTunes
Speaking of downloads, since it's that time of year again, and as a thank you for your kindness and loyalty throughout the year, I'm including a link to download my now infamous festive song, "Merry Christmas Jameson's Irish Whiskey". If you wish to, please pass it around and share it with friends and family.
Thank you again, and have a safe and warm holiday season.
November 24, 2016 - I'd like to announce that my new album, "We Were Only Kids", has been released on CD, and I am now taking orders for it at the "Store" page on my website here. The CDs are $20 each + $2 per disc (postage) to Canada. For International orders, shipping will be $5 per disc. Please indicate if you'd like the CDs autographed and if so, to whom. Thank you so much for your support. I'm delighted and honored to finally be able to share this new work with you. Jesse.
I'd also like to share with you the 2nd "trailer" for the album, marking its release. It can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/OpPO5ta-eAs
November 13, 2016 - He was our sage, our shaman. He was my hero. We shall not look upon his like again.
Over the years, I've performed many Leonard Cohen songs, and as a small tribute, I'd like to share with you my humble performance of "One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong" that I've just posted. You can see it here.
Thank you Leonard.
"You'll be hearing from me baby, long after I'm gone.
I'll be speaking to you sweetly from a window in the Tower of Song."
October 28, 2016 - As a special Halloween treat, I'd like to share another song from my upcoming album. This one's quite a departure, and seemed oddly appropriate for this time of year. "Satan's Love Song" is one of the more theatrical things I've written, and was inspired by the Persian twist on the myth of the Fall, in which it was not Satan's pride, but rather his undivided love for god that made him unable to swear allegiance to mankind. Thus his banishment is for loving too deeply. When I first heard of this, I thought, "Oh wow, there's a song in that." So this is Satan's love lament. Click here to hear it on YouTube. Happy Halloween.
October 9, 2016 - "Allie", the 1st Single of the new album can now be heard on my Music page and on Youtube.
October 7, 2016 - The Teaser Trailer for the new album has been launched.
August 28, 2016 - Here's a peek at the cover of the new album, due out this fall.
June 24, 2016 - Over the past two years, I have been recording the songs that will comprise my new album "We Were Only Kids". Last week, I received the first master of the album, and over the next few weeks I'll be giving it the final listens before I sign off on the project.
As a preview of this album, I'd like to share a couple things. Firstly, we've isolated the background vocals for a chorus of the song "(Somebody Else's) Happy Ending", giving a glimpse deep inside the arrangement of the song. On the final track, these voices are relegated to the background, but here you can hear them front and center.
Secondly, Scott Bennett took some photographs of me in March, which were only intended to be used as promotional shots, but I was so happy with them, that I've decided to use one as the cover of the album. Which one it will be is still undetermined, and I'm curious for your opinion on this.
(It's a '66 Valiant, by the way.)
You can hear the track and see the pictures at this link:
This album has been an intense labor of love, and as its release approaches, I'm excited for the chance to finally share it with you.
Oct. 11, 2015 - I would like to announce that I have finally created a Facebook page, where I will be providing regular updates and content about my music and its creation. If you use Facebook, and would like to stay in the loop and hear what I'm up to in the studio, I'd be honored if you would click here or the picture below, and click the "like" button on the page.
Thank you for listening, and I hope you're having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Cheers.
July 31, 2015 - I'm in the process of recording two recently penned songs, to be included on a new album, which is deep into production. I thought I would poke my head out of the studio to share with you a live performance of what is easily the most requested song I've ever written. It's called "My Favorite P's", and was released on my 2011 album, "An Idiot's Tale". After years of writing, I've learned that if there's one thing people like more than a novelty song... it's a naughty novelty song. I hope you enjoy.
You can see the video on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video

If you'd like to download the album version of the song you can do so from any of these retailers:
May 16, 2015 - Today we celebrate my mother. It's her 70th birthday, and one way I've chosen to observe this is to share with you a song I wrote about her. Just over a year ago, my parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, and for that occasion, I composed a love song for my mother, through my father's eyes, entitled, "We Were Only Kids". The song has now been recorded in the studio, and will be included on the upcoming album. The performance I'd like to share comes from my October 17th concert from last year. I sincerely hope you enjoy the song, and I'm honored to share it with you. I feel it's one of the very best things I've ever written.
You can see the performance on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N13KNrn7pdc
Have a wonderful long weekend. Happy Birthday Mom.
P.S. This is the second piece I've written about my Mom. The first, entitled "Waltz For My Mother" was presented on this day 10 years ago, and was released on my first album "Tanglewood".
Feb. 28, 2015 - I'd like to share with you my live performance of the Burt Bacharach & Hal David classic, "This Guy's In Love With You", from a concert I did in late 2013. This song was a hit for Herb Alpert in 1968 and is one that I hope will bring back some fond memories, particularly on a weekend when we're saying farewell to Leonard Nimoy. Star Trek after all, was still in its initial 3-year TV run at the time this song was a hit. I hope you enjoy.
You can view it on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3A2b446GhDQ
Have a wonderful weekend. Jesse.
Jan. 9, 2015 - Yesterday would have been Elvis Presley's 80th birthday. At my October 17th concert, I opened the show with his 1956 classic, "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You". It's always good to warm up the hands with a little rock 'n' roll. Recently, one of those in attendance requested that I post my performance of this song from that night, so I'm sharing it with you now. I've been listening to Elvis a lot lately, and I hope you'll join me this weekend in dragging out the old recordings, sentimentally reveling in the joy brought by the one who changed popular music forever, and the man who Leonard Bernstein described as "the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century". To get you started, the video of my performance can be viewed on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBS5ZrpRGJY
I hope you enjoy. Special thanks to Marjie for the request. Happy New Year and have a great weekend.
Dec. 23, 2014 - I have one more festive bit of fun to share, in celebration of the holidays. In November of this year, I was interviewed by Scott Bennett at Lap of Luxury Studios. We talked a good long while about the process of song-writing and performing, among other things, including the song "Merry Christmas Jameson's Irish Whiskey", which I spoke about specifically for several minutes. This Christmas segment of the interview can be heard, followed by the album version of the song. I hope it brings you some amusement, and most of all, I hope you have the happiest of holidays. Merry Christmas.
You can hear it on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W70J6LAeQA8&feature=youtu.be
Dec. 16, 2014 - Well, it's that time of year again, which means it's time to get out the wrapping paper, eggnog, and some inappropriate Christmas music. Just over a year ago, my festive song, "Merry Christmas Jameson's Irish Whiskey" finally saw its album release. This year to celebrate the holiday, I have a new live video recording of the song to share with you. It was taken from my concert this October 17th. I hope you enjoy, and I hope it gets you in the spirit.
You can watch it on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0UWKHsThZo
Nov. 14, 2014 - I've added a second video from my October 17th concert. This time, it's the Roy Orbison classic, "Crying". It's one of the great songwriting achievements of the rock n roll era, and a song that feels uncomfortably relatable to sing. I hope I've honored this piece of work, and I hope you enjoy my interpretation of "Crying".
You can hear it on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDT-TRUqGYQ
Have a wonderful weekend. Jesse.
Nov.7, 2014 - I'd like to share with you my performance of "First Lady of the London Stage" from the concert on October 17th. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. Thank you to Scott Bennett for capturing the video.
It can be viewed on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeKS-1opFqw

I've added a new gallery of these stills to the "Photos" section of the website here: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/photos
Thank you again, and have a great weekend. Jesse.

July 29, 2014 - I wrote the song "Laura" in the last months of 2012, and included it on my new album "The Passenger Waits" a year later. It's something of an ambling country ballad, and Kristofferson fans will notice the lyrical reference to "The Silver Tongued Devil". I would like to share my live performance of "Laura" from June, 2013, (one of the earliest concert performances of the song). If you'd like to hear the fully-arranged album version, there's a presentation of that on YouTube as well. There's also a similar presentation of the instrumental version should you feel like singing a little Karaoke. I hope you enjoy.

July 22, 2014 - To celebrate the 30th birthday of the real Nikki who inspired the song, I have posted the album version of my song "Nikki" to YouTube, accompanied by the album cover. I've done the same for the instrumental version of the song as well. In this piece, I tried to encapsulate the spirit of early rock n' roll, drawing particularly on early to mid 60's influences such as Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons, the Beach Boys, the Ronettes and the Crystals. I was shooting for the epic scope of those records, while trying to tell an intimate story of friendship, and a grown-up version of the Rock n' Roll dream. Happy Birthday "Nikki darling, Nikki baby". Here's the song:
and here's the instrumental version:
Should you wish to purchase the song, you can do so at these retailers.
July 17, 2014 - The world has lost one of the most important, singular voices in Broadway history. Elaine Stritch was one of my great heroes, for the unbridled, reckless character of her performances. Musical theater would never have been as great without her presence. So, as she screamed so aggressively and sarcastically in the classic Sondheim song, "The Ladies Who Lunch", let me say instead with subdued reverence, "Everybody Rise".
June 14, 2014 - In celebration of a dear friend's birthday, I've posted my recent performance of one of her favorite songs, "Circle of Life" from the Lion King. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
You can see the video on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzDyFDbAvKQ
You can also now hear on Youtube, the album version of "First Lady of the London Stage", accompanied by a visual of the album cover here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2CoMDP1i_Y
And if you feel like singing a little Karaoke, you can hear the instrumental version of "First Lady" on Youtube as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T282p6TYEC4
Have a great weekend.
June 2, 2014 - Dear Friends, I have a couple updates I'd like to share. I've posted my December 12th performance video of Leonard Cohen's classic "Suzanne".
It can be viewed in the video section of the website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBUO_5c2wuk
I've also posted some wonderful new live pictures, courtesy of "Megan Elizabeth Photography".
They can be viewed in the "Photos" section of the website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/photos
Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy.
April 17, 2014 - Dear Friends, Since Easter is upon us, a time when we all tend to think about family, I decided to share with you my recent performance of a classic country song about family by Shel Silverstein, entitled "The Wonderful Soup Stone". The song was recorded in 1973 by Bobby Bare as well as Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. I hope you enjoy. Happy Easter.
You can see it on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U1GWJIiz70
or on the video section of my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
April 6, 2014 - Dear Friends, I was recently interviewed by the very talented Megan Nelson, who spoke to me about writing and recording and about my new album "The Passenger Waits". I was quite delighted when I saw the segment, and I'm very pleased to be able to share it with you. It's a production of "Megan Elizabeth Photography".
It can be seen on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcFsBks7xfg
or on my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
March 16, 2014 - Dear Friends, I have a new studio recording to share with you that was just mixed last week. For some time now, I've been meaning to record Woody Guthrie's classic "This Land Is Your Land" in the way that I've been playing it for the past several years. Pete Seeger's recent passing gave me the impetus to do so. Some of the verses Guthrie wrote for this song are rarely heard today, but pound home the little-known protest message of the song. The version I've recorded includes these verses. I first heard them through Pete Seeger, who, as the foremost torch bearer of American folk and protest music, sang the song in its entirety, sharing Guthrie's outrage at injustice and inequality. Please download the song at no charge, pass it around to whomever you think might appreciate it or its sentiment. Most of all, sing it loud and sing it often.
You can listen to it in its Youtube presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kiro3anhck
and you can download the song from my website here: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/free-downloads
March 7, 2014 - Well, if you're like me, and you've thought to yourself, "Hey I think I could actually enjoy this Jesse Thomas Brown guy if only I didn't have to hear him sing", then this is for you. As was done with my 2nd album, an instrumental version of my new album "The Passenger Waits" is now available to download from my website, free of charge. For me there's great satisfaction in hearing the songs this way because their musical virtues and the subtleties of the arrangements come out more when they're not hidden behind vocals and burdened by lyrics. Please feel free to download either the full album or as many individual tracks as you'd like. I sincerely hope you enjoy hearing the songs this way. They can be found at the "Free Downloads" section of my website at the link below. Have a great weekend. Jesse.
January 13, 2014 - Dear Friends, I am pleased to announce that my new album "The Passenger Waits" can now be heard in its entirety in the Music section of my website. www.jessethomasbrown.com/music The album has also been added to the site-wide music player. If you go to the website, you'll notice that there's a dark bar with music player controls along the bottom of the screen. If you press play, it will play the whole album, followed by my first two albums, and then repeat, so long as you keep the website open. You can skip through tracks using the controls as well. As an audiophile, I won't lie; listening to streaming music on the internet is never as sonically pleasing as a high-fidelity CD, but you can now hear all the songs anywhere with an internet connection. I sincerely hope you enjoy them. Jesse.
December 29, 2013 - Dear Friends, As we say goodbye to 2013, I thought I'd share with you my recent live performance of Frank Loesser's 1947 classic, "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" I'd like to thank you for your kind support this year, and I wish wonderful things for you in 2014. Happy New Year. Jesse.
The video of this song can be viewed at my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkbkslHR5gg
December 16, 2013 - Dear Friends, Well, it's that time of year again, and like every year since I wrote it in 2007, "Merry Christmas Jameson's Irish Whiskey" has found its way onto my holiday setlist once again. What's different this year though, is that my little Christmas song is commercially available for the very first time. If you had a look at the tracklist of the new album, you may have noticed that this song closes the record. It's a rather silly song that harkens back to the Christmas songs of the 1940's & 50's, and has developed a minor cult status, probably owing to the admittedly inappropriate lyrics. I hope you enjoy it, and that it gets added to your Christmas mix. You probably won't want to play it at work though, and possibly not around small children. Happy Holidays. Jesse.

December 4, 2013 - Dear Friends, I'd like to let you know that my new album, "The Passenger Waits" has been released, and I am now taking orders for it. The CDs are $10 each + $2 per disc (postage) to Canada or the U.S.A. For outside North America, shipping will be $5 per disc. I'm not set up for credit card orders yet, but I can do Paypal, or a check. Just send me a message indicating your interest, and how many copies to send. Please also indicate whether you'd like the CDs autographed and if so, to whom. The first two albums are also available at the same price. Thank you so much for your support. I'm delighted and honored to finally be able to share this new work with you. Jesse.
November 10, 2013 - Dear Friends, In recognition of Remembrance Day, I have posted a piano piece entitled "Salute to the Unknown Soldier". I composed it in 1999 in tribute to my grandfather, Douglas Gordon Brown, who fought as a member of the Regina Rifles in World War II. I was pleased to be able to share this with him many years before his death, and I was honored in 2008 to perform it at his funeral service. That performance will forever be one of the most important of my career. This recorded version will be released in December as part of my "Passenger Waits" album. I am proud to share this piece with you. It can be heard accompanied with a portrait of my grandfather on Youtube:
or in the video section of my website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
September 27, 2013 - Dear Friends, I'd like to announce that my new album of self-penned songs, entitled "The Passenger Waits" is now in the mastering stage of production, and will be released in time for the holidays. I've been working on it for over two years and I'm incredibly excited for it to finally see the light of day. I thought I'd provide for you a sneak peek at the cover. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Cheers.
September 1, 2013 - Dear Friends, I would like to share with you my recent performance of Elton John's much-beloved "Your Song". This has long been one of my favorite songs, and I was honored to close my set with it in support of Hepatitis Awareness Day in Victoria's Centennial Square on July 27th. I dedicated it to the organizers and attendees of the event. I'd like to thank Scott Bennett for capturing the video. I hope you enjoy it, and that you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
August 9, 2013 - Dear Friends, Here's one more to complete the trio of Shel Silverstein songs I performed at my June 22nd show. "Tequila Sheila" (a song Shel wrote with Mac Davis back in 1979), is one of most fun songs to sing, and you'll notice that I can't really get through it with a straight face, particularly once the last verse rolls around. I hope you find the song as amusing as I do. Have a great weekend.
July 31, 2013 - Dear Friends, The last video I posted amused people enough that I thought I'd post another Shel Silverstein song from the same concert. "Rough on the Living" is a song from 1979 that is both poignant and funny. Its lyrics invariably make one chuckle simply because they're just a little too real. Everyone sing along: "Nashville is rough on the living, but she really speaks well of the dead." My performance of this song can be seen on my website:
July 25, 2013 - Dear Friends, For those who have asked or are wondering at what time I'll be playing during the Community Health Fair on Saturday, July 27th, I now have a timeline for the event, with updated program info. I will be playing from about 1:20 PM to 2:00 PM and will be closing the show. For everyone who is able to attend, I very much look forward to seeing you on Saturday. Thank you again. Here's the schedule:
July 22, 2013 - Dear Friends, This Saturday, July 27th, I will be performing at the 4th Annual Community Health Fair, recognizing Hepatitis Awareness Day. The event will take place at Centennial Square in downtown Victoria and runs from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Councillor Pamela Madoff will make a Proclamation on behalf of the City of Victoria, Philippe Lucas will be speaking, and fellow songwriter Steve Barrie will also be performing. I'll be playing for about half an hour. I'm honored to lend my support to an important cause and I look forward to learning all that I can. I invite you to join me. Thank you.
July 11, 2013 - Dear Friends, I'd like to share with you my recent live performance of Shel Silverstein's classic "The Winner". This song was originally recorded by Bobby Bare for his 1973 masterpiece "Lullabys Legends and Lies", an album made up entirely of Silverstein songs. If you enjoy tongue-in-cheek humor in a good old country song, this one's for you. On a personal note, my Uncle Gerry also recorded this song several years ago.
My performance can be viewed at the video section of my website here: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
June 28, 2013 - Dear Friends, I'd like to share my performance of Kris Kristofferson's little-known 1975 classic "Stallion", from a concert I did just last weekend. I hope you enjoy it. May 10, 2013 - Dear Friends, In celebration of Mother's Day, I've posted a live video performance of my piano piece "Waltz For My Mother" from a concert I did in 2011. I wrote this piece in tribute to my own mother when she turned 60, and included it on my 2008 album "Tanglewood". In addition to the video, I've also made an MP3 of the album version of the piece available as a free download for the whole weekend. I hope that you enjoy this recording and that you feel free to pass it along to any mothers you think might enjoy it. Happy Mother's Day. The picture below is of my Mom and me, and was taken when I was 2 years old. Here are the links:

September 18, 2012 - "Dad's Song" has been very special to my family for many years. It was written by my Uncle Gerry Andal and R.C. Bannon in tribute to Gerry's Dad, my grandfather. I performed it this past weekend for my own father to celebrate his 70th birthday. Since Uncle Gerry died last year, this song has taken on even more emotion, and it was admittedly very difficult to sing. It was however an honor to do so. This performance of "Dad's Song" can be viewed at the website here: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or full-size on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNxq6M8tT3U

July 14, 2012 - Today I've uploaded my performance of Kris Kristofferson's "To Beat The Devil" from my January 7th concert. This is a song that my Uncle Gerry and I shared a love for and spoke of on multiple occasions. Gerry Andal was my first musical influence. We lost him last year and I always think of him when I do this song. This one's for you, Uncle Gerry.

June 19, 2012 - Hi Friends, Today I've uploaded another video from my January 7th concert. This one is a lesser-known song by Kris Kristofferson entitled "The Junkie & the Juicehead, Minus Me". May 4, 2012 - When my dear friend informed me yesterday that she was in New Orleans for the Jazz & Heritage Festival, I decided this would be a good time to salute the Crescent City by sharing with you a video of my song "Lights of New Orleans". It's taken from a concert I did on January 7th of this year. I wrote the song in 2005 about a riverboat pilot returning to the Mississippi for the first time after the American Civil War. It was written primarily as a tribute to my hero Mark Twain. The video can be viewed here at the website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video or at the direct Youtube link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RPJDW93gnY
A studio version of the song was released on my 2008 album "Tanglewood", and can be heard at the music section of this website, or purchased at various online retailers, including iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/tanglewood/id302173391
& CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jessethomasbrown

April 23, 2012 - Well April 23rd has rolled around again, which means it's my birthday. In celebration of this admittedly common event, I've posted a video of my performance of "Ellis Island" from my January 7th concert. I wrote the song in 2007 as a compassionate statement about the plight of modern-day immigrants, and released it on my 2008 album "Tanglewood". Today it's dedicated to my Great Grandma & Grandpa Andal who passed through Ellis Island when they first came to America. If you'd like to view the video, it can be seen here at the website: http://www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
or at the direct Youtube link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugxSBKvLZaA

March 6, 2012 - Good Morning Friends, Since today sees the release of Bruce Springsteen's new album, I'd like to share a video of my own performance of Springsteen's classsic song "Highway Patrolman", from my concert in January. The song originally comes from his hauntingly beautiful Nebraska album. It's a tragic song about family and duty, and as I sang it, I was nearly moved to tears by the beauty of Springsteen's words. I hope you enjoy it. Now I'm off to buy his new album. You can view my performance on my website here: www.jessethomasbrown.com/video
